Discover the distinctive style of Kamilaroi artist Reko Rennie and explore the intersection between culture, politics and identity from a contemporary First Nations perspective with your students. Join an NGV Educator in the Gallery to discuss Rennie’s use of media and iconography, and how his personal and cultural identity has informed his work’s meaning and messages.

Students will:

  • Analyse the materials, techniques and processes used in Reko Rennie’s artwork.
  • Interpret Rennie’s use of visual language to communicate ideas and meaning in his artwork.
  • Identify and connect specific features of the artists’ work to their wider historical, cultural and social context.

Duration: 1 hour
