Mon–Fri, 10 am, 11:30 am, 1 pm, 2:30 pm
Levels 7–10
The Ian Potter Centre: NGV Australia

How do works of art reflect human relationships with the Australian environment? In this NGV educator-led program students will analyse and discuss diverse representations of the Australian environment, including historical and contemporary landscapes, to investigate what works of art and design reveal about how different groups (such as First Nations communities and Settler Colonialists) have perceived, interacted with, and impacted the Australian environment.

This program supports elements of VCE Outdoor and Environmental Studies.

Students will:

  • Describe and analyse how works by First Nations artists reflect relationships to Country and the impact of colonisation.
  • Describe and analyse how visual artworks reflect different experiences of Australian outdoor environments, including the impact of increasing population, Industrialisation, and nation building.

Duration: 1 hour
Cost: $10.50 per student
