Throughout his career, Edwin Roseno has been interested in the environmental and social impacts of increasing industrialisation and globalisation. His photographs reflect a common domestic practice, as he explains:
Green Hypermarket is my escapade in catching a sight of the simple, yet real practices found among Indonesians of utilising used packaging of instant food and beverages as planting media. Whether it is done consciously or not, it has somehow reversed ‘the commercial value’ of those disposable packaging by transforming them into part of the green elements around the house.
